Juve star out of Atletico UCL clash with irregular heartbeat
Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira has been ruled out from Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night due to an irregular heartbeat.
Bianconerri manager Massimiliano Allegri confirmed that the 31-year-old Germany international absence from the travelling contingent in his pre-match press conference as the Italian coach revealed the 2014 World Cup winner remains in Italy for 'medical checks'.
Juventus said in a statement via the Club Website: "Sami Khedira has stayed in Turin for medical tests, from which emerged the opportunity to perform an electrophysiological study and eventual treatment of an atrial arrhythmia which appeared today [Tuesday]."
The worrying news means Khedira joins both Juan Cuadrado and Douglas Costa on the sidelines for Juventus, as the pair continue to recover from respective injuries - with neither included in the squad to face Atletico Madrid.
Former Real Madrid star has made 15 appearances for Juventus this season and played in their last two fixtures against Sassuolo and Frosinone.
